Giving a voice to the branch
Page last updated: 21 February 2020
If you're reading this and are a member of this UNISON branch, you may be wondering why there isn't any information on the organisation in which you work. The answer is simple - there isn't a UNISON rep in your organisation at the moment. The branch relies on its representatives to supply it with the necessary information. Without that link, the rest of the branch (and possibly the organisation's own members) remain in the dark about what's going on in your place of work.
The union is founded on its members and we always encourage lay members who are interested in becoming a representative - even if they only want to distribute information locally as a workplace contact. This is especially the case in those regions/ offices where we currently do not have representation. It certainly need not be onerous and you'd be helping to make a difference in raising the profile of UNISON.

If you think that you may be interested but are not sure what it will mean, please read the 'The Basics', 'Running the branch', and 'Problem at work?' tabs on the right-hand side first. That will be a brief starter and will provide you with an overview of the branch and what a representative does. We would then encourage you to contact us via the 'Contact Us' tab and a branch officer will get back to you by your preferred method. Remember that you wouldn't be committing yourself - just finding out a little more about what being a rep might involve. Many thanks for taking the time to read this.
